The Food Bank of Delaware has launched its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the need is up this year: visits to its Healthy Pantry Centers in Newark and Milford rose 22% over the summer compared with last year, and September visits rose 15% over September 2025. About 157,000 Delawareans — including 42,000 children — face food insecurity.
If you can help: Thanksgiving donations are due by Friday, November 13 at noon. Drop off at 222 Lake Drive in Newark or 102 Delaware Veterans Blvd. in Milford. Most needed: canned vegetables and fruit, gravy, cranberry sauce, stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, canned meats and soups, cereal, peanut butter — and frozen turkeys, delivered right to the warehouses.
New this year, there's also a virtual food drive at fundraise.fbd.org, where you can fill a cart online or start a team fundraiser.
