Dover High School went on lockdown Wednesday morning after a bomb threat was reported, and students were evacuated while Dover Police searched the building. The Capital School District sent students home early for the day.
The district's first update, posted at 11:17 AM, said the school was on lockdown following the threat, the building was being evacuated, and Dover Police were on scene searching. Parents were asked not to come to campus, because that would impede the investigation and the emergency response.
What parents needed to know, from the district's 12:17 PM update:
- Buses began picking up about 12:30 PM and ran through about 12:45, dismissed by bus number
- Car riders: do NOT come to campus yet — the district will contact you with pickup instructions once the buses clear
- Walkers were dismissed last
- ALL Dover High after-school activities were canceled today
The search was expected to take about two hours. As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, neither the district nor Dover Police had announced an all-clear, and no arrests had been announced. Only Dover High School was affected. The district said a further update would follow — this page will be updated when officials release it.
