“You can look through and see to the sky in multiple places in the school.”
That’s Gov. Meyer, after touring the fire damage at Lulu M. Ross Elementary in Milford on Tuesday with local leaders. Education Secretary Cynthia Marten pledged the state’s support for the school’s recovery.
For Ross families right now: Food Bank of Delaware meal distribution is running at three sites — the Food Bank of Delaware in Milford, Morris Early Childhood Center in Lincoln, and Ellendale Fire Hall — with teachers staffing the hubs from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, Wednesday through Friday.
The plan from our earlier post still stands: more than 600 Ross students will move to Milford Middle School and be back in class Monday, Nov. 2. Sixth graders will go to Milford Central Academy.
The state Fire Marshal says the fire originated in the Kent wing. What caused it remains undetermined — officials say a cause determination “could take a few days to a few months.”
We’ll update as the recovery moves.
