Yeferson Moreno-Gimenez, 27, of Temple Hills, Md., was shot and killed at a D.C. bus stop early Thursday — minutes later, an officer shot the man now charged with his murder.

Yeferson Moreno-Gimenez, 27, of Temple Hills, Md., was shot and killed at a D.C. bus stop early Thursday — minutes later, an officer shot the man now charged with his murder.

MPD says he was shot around 5:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, in the 4100 block of Minnesota Avenue NE, and died at a hospital.

19 minutes later, the same man was firing a gun in a parking lot in the 3900 block of the same avenue and fired toward a bystander leaving the business. An officer shot him; he went to a hospital with serious injuries.

William Louis Chase Jr., 47, of Northwest D.C., is charged with first-degree murder, felony assault on a police officer and emergency personnel, and assault with a dangerous weapon (gun). The officers are on administrative leave.
