UPDATE: THE MAN IN THE FIELD HAS A NAME

Tue Oct 20, 2026, 11:24 AM EDT · 367 words

When we first brought you this story, he was "a 29-year-old man" found shot to death in the field behind the Delancy Village Townhouses in Elkton, Maryland, in the early hours of Friday, October 16. Police hadn't released his name, and a family somewhere was still living in the last normal hours before the worst knock on the door there is.

Now he has a name. Elkton police have identified the victim as Keeran Angol, 29, of Delaware, according to reporting by the Cecil Daily.

Keeran Angol crossed a state line and didn't come home. He was found around 5:25 that Friday morning, shot, in the field behind the 100 block of Danford Drive. Whoever killed him ran — on foot, police believe, toward the Buckhill Farms and Thompson Estates neighborhoods — and as of this morning, the gunman is still out there.

That's the part that hasn't changed, and it's the part that matters most: nobody has been caught.

Elkton police are still asking everyone in those neighborhoods to check their cameras — doorbells, dash cams, security systems — for anything between 4:45 and 6:00 AM that Friday morning. A figure on a sidewalk. A car that doesn't belong. Ten seconds of grainy video could be the whole case. If you have something, or you know something: Sgt. Andrew Tuer ([email protected]), Det. Anthony McGonigle ([email protected]), or the Elkton Police Criminal Investigations Division at (410) 398-4200.

We reached out to the Elkton Police Department when this story first published and are still awaiting their response; we'll add their comment the moment it comes in. Our original story — everything known about that morning — is linked below.

A man is not a case number, and he's not "a body in a field." He's Keeran Angol, 29 years old, and somebody's whole world got smaller on Friday. Say his name.
