UPDATE — ELIZABETH: It was a candlelight vigil.

The Union County Prosecutor's Office has now put out its statement on last night's shooting in Elizabeth, and it changes the picture from the early reports. Five people were shot at a candlelight vigil near Elmwood Place and Irvington Avenue around 9:30 PM Monday. One person has died. Four others were treated for their injuries.

No arrests have been announced, and investigators are asking anyone who was there — or who has video — to come forward.

About an hour later, a red sedan was found burning in nearby Newark (per ABC7 and CBS New York). Police have not said whether the two are connected.

We told you early this morning this story was developing. This is the update, from the prosecutor's office itself.

Tips: Union County Crime Stoppers, 908-654-TIPS (8477) — up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest.
