Fire gutted Lulu Ross Elementary in Milford before dawn — and tonight, families still don't know if there's school Monday. 🔥

Crews called shortly after 4 this morning found fire through the roof. It went to three alarms and took about three hours to control. No one was hurt.

The damage is heavy: the lobby, library and front office took significant damage, and classrooms in the Kent and New Castle hallways were heavily damaged. Carlisle and Georgetown were among the fire companies who answered. The State Fire Marshal is investigating; cause not yet known.

Superintendent Travis Moorman has issued a statement, the crisis team is meeting today, and Gov. Meyer says the state is helping the district. The one thing parents need — the plan for Monday — isn't announced yet. We'll update the moment it is.
