More than 61,000 Delawareans have already voted — and if you were planning to go today, don't.

The Department of Elections now counts 61,018 ballots cast in the general election so far: 45,370 in person during early voting and 15,648 by absentee ballot, in the state's report updated Saturday afternoon.

Sussex County still leads the whole state, and it isn't close: 24,223 early in-person voters, well ahead of New Castle County's 14,313, despite having about half as many registered voters. Kent County has cast 6,834 early in-person ballots.

Early voting sites are closed today, Sunday, Oct. 25. They reopen Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 26–27, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., then run Wednesday, Oct. 28 through Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. You can vote early at any site in your own county.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, with polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
