DEVELOPING — SIX PEOPLE SHOT ON MAIN STREET IN NEWARK

Halloween night ended in gunfire in downtown Newark. Newark Police say six people were shot around 11:13 PM Saturday on the south sidewalk of East Main Street, directly across from Choate Street, in the middle of the Halloween crowds.

All six were taken to local hospitals. Police say no fatalities have been reported, and there does not appear to be an ongoing threat to public safety. Main Street was closed about five hours overnight and has reopened.

WHAT WE DON'T KNOW YET: police have not released the victims' conditions or identities. No suspect has been named and no arrest has been announced. And nobody official has said any victim is a UD student — we won't report that unless police do.

Newark PD, UD Police and State Police all responded. This is a developing story — we will update it as Newark Police release more.
