DEVELOPING — A Middletown High School student was arrested this morning with a loaded gun, stopped at the door before he reached a classroom.

Delaware State Police say the school resource officer secured the loaded weapon, and the student was arrested and removed from the building. No one was injured, and police say no additional threat is known at this time.

The Appoquinimink School District says a parent reported that a student might have a weapon. Staff located the student entering the building on his way to class and stopped him. In its letter to families, the district says the student had a loaded weapon and a knife, and that there is no current threat at the school.

Police have not released the student's name, age or charges. State police say a full release is coming — we will update this post when it lands.
