AND THE GOOD: a national honor came home to Cheswold this month.
Meet the man who earned it: Emmanuel Jenkins.

Emmanuel Jenkins has spent more than 20 years in disability advocacy — work that carried him all the way to a 2024 appointment to the President's Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

This month, at Cheswold Fire Hall, Jenkins received the 2026 "Custie" Award, a national honor recognizing the work he has done opening doors for people with disabilities.

Twenty-plus years of showing up for other people, recognized on his home turf, in the fire hall, surrounded by his own community. That is the good stuff, and it is right here in Kent County.

Congratulations, Mr. Jenkins.
