🔥 A Salisbury man is charged with burning down his own home — and leaving his five cats inside. The cats survived.
Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshals say Michael Satterfield, 66, intentionally set the fire at his Hunters Mill Drive home Saturday afternoon. Forty firefighters brought it under control in about 30 minutes, but the damage ran to roughly $175,000.
Investigators say the fire started in the attached garage. Satterfield faces first and second-degree arson, malicious burning, threat of arson, reckless endangerment, and five counts of animal cruelty — one for each cat left in the house. Firefighters found all five cats unharmed.
He's being held without bond in Wicomico County. The charges are allegations; he's presumed innocent until proven guilty.
