🏛️ A powerful congressman is now demanding answers about Delaware's plan to let AI run companies.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer sent Gov. Matt Meyer's administration a letter seeking records on Delaware's proposed "Artificial Intelligence Company" — a new business entity an AI agent could run day to day. Under the draft bill, the company could own property, sign contracts, and sue or be sued in its own name.
Comer argues the setup could let AI firms and their backers "escape responsibility for harmful conduct" by the software. A Meyer spokesperson says the governor's office received the letter and is reviewing it.
The idea was unveiled in July by Secretary of State Charuni Patibanda Sanchez and Norm Ai founder John Nay. No bill has passed — this is Congress asking Delaware to show its homework.
