💻 $6.3 BILLION, gone in about 20 minutes. The biggest crypto heist in history just hit Binance — and investigators say it looks like North Korea's work.

Hackers drained the world's largest crypto exchange late Thursday. Blockchain firms TRM Labs and Chainalysis say the attack bore similarities to previous thefts blamed on North Korea. North Korea routinely denies involvement in crypto thefts.

Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said the "complex attack" may have begun with a single compromised software engineer's laptop, giving hackers a path into the systems that process withdrawals. Binance halted withdrawals and says company funds will cover customers in full.

The race to freeze the money: stablecoin issuer Tether froze nearly $1.57 billion linked to the heist, and Circle froze $800 million more. Rival exchanges are scrambling to tighten their own defenses.
